Historic Howard Smith Wharves- The perfect place to eat, drink, play & stay

One of Brisbane’s most historic and iconic landmarks is undergoing one incredible transformation.

One of Brisbane’s most historic and iconic landmarks, originally constructed in the 1930s, is undergoing one incredible transformation as developers breathe life back into the Howard Smith Wharves (HSW).

The heritage buildings are being transformed into restaurants, bars and event venues with 2.7 hectares of open space surrounding the buildings for Brisbane residents and visitors to enjoy.

“We’re creating a new riverside precinct loved by residents and visitors; a place to connect and celebrate the best of what Brisbane has to offer.

We’re bringing life back to the river – a reimagined green space dancing on the edge of the concrete jungle, the bright lights a beautiful backdrop for our vibrant new world.

Howard Smith Wharves will be home to an expansive brewery, abundant green spaces and picnic areas, two unique indoor event spaces, a brand-new boutique hotel, overwater bar and a line-up of riverside restaurants.” Remarked a spokesperson for the HSW development.

The project will include a 164-room, five-star boutique hotel and function rooms and spaces able to accommodate up to 1,000 guests. The focus is on creating spaces where locally made food and beverages can thrive.

On-site brewery, Felons Brewing Co. means visitors can sample locally-brewed beers, dine at a robust selection of unique restaurants, or sample fresh, artisan bread and locally roasted coffee, enjoy that much needed caffeine hit as you pass on by. All with views of Brissie’s bustling city centre and Story Bridge.

No stone (literally) has been left unturned in the entire transformation of this Brisbane landmark. Developers have created a new riverside meeting place for residents and visitors, with grassed play areas, gardens, a walking track and dedicated cycle path.

Developers instrumental to this transformation aim to provide yet another cultural dimension to Brisbane’s lively inner city. Positioning Brisbane on the list of ‘must see’ cities and celebrating its unique position with city and river views.

Completion estimated for the end of 2018.
